Mt. Fuji & Hakone Day Tour from Tokyo (Choose to return by bullet train or bus)
Final confirmation within 2 working days – Confirmation email sent at time of booking – Tour duration: one day (11 hours)
Discover iconic Mt. Fuji and the Hakone region on a convenient day trip by bus from Tokyo!
Includes English-speaking guide
Tour Highlights
- Reach the highest point of Mt. Fuji accessible by road (about 7,550 feet above sea level)
- Enjoy lunch at a ninja-themed restaurant
- Explore the volcanic area of Ōwakudani and take a ropeway ride down to Lake Ashi for a breathtaking panoramic view
- Marvel at Mt. Fuji from a distance while onboard a Lake Ashi “Pirate Ship” sightseeing cruise
The Experience
Your bus will depart from the Shinjuku area and enter the Chūō Expressway. You will easily get a sense of the size of Tokyo as the bus leaves the crowded skyscraper district, passes through endless residential areas, and suddenly finds itself surrounded by green mountains.
Our first destination (the itinerary order may be changed due to operational reasons) will be the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji, located at 7,550 feet above sea level and reached after a drive on the winding Subaru Line Panoramic Road. Weather permitting, you will be able to view the surrounding countryside and even see the summit of this sacred mountain!
Next, you’ll enjoy lunch (if you chose the lunch included plan) at a ninja-themed restaurant. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies when you book.
Continuing on the tour, you’ll arrive at the Ōwakudani Volcanic Area, an area of roiling volcanic activity with fumaroles visible in all directions. Here you can try the region’s famous specialty of kurotamago, black eggs boiled in sulfur water.
After your time at Ōwakudani, ride the Hakone Ropeway down to Lake Ashi for a splendid view of the area. You’ll then enjoy a scenic “Pirate Ship” cruise across Lake Ashi, where weather permitting you’ll be treated to spectacular Mt. Fuji rising in the distance.
Note: If the weather is poor Mount Fuji might not be clearly visible. Kindly understand that we do not provide refunds for this situation.
If the Hakone Ropeway and/or the Hakone Pirate Ship are unable to operate due to any circumstances, the tour will be rerouted to one of the following alternative destinations: Hakone Komagatake Ropeway, Hakone Lake Ashi Boat Cruise, Lake Kawaguchi Cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, Mishima Skywalk, Odawara Castle, Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, Hakone-en Aquarium, Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone Checkpoint, Hakone Shrine, among others.
The tour will not be canceled and no refund will be given for the above reasons.
If you’d like to leave the tour at Odawara Station and return to Tokyo by shinkansen bullet train, choose the “return with bullet train” plan.
If you already have your own Japan Rail Pass and want to use it to return to Tokyo, kindly chose the “Disband at Odawara or Hakone” plan, and inform the guide on your tour day.
The tour guide will not board the bullet train from Odawara to Tokyo due to operational reasons, but will provide necessary information to guests returning by bullet train.
Note: You cannot apply for the return by shinkansen plan on the following dates due to peak travel season: Obon season (mid-August), New Year’s Season (late December to early January)

The Experience
We will take you to unmissable sightseeing spots in Kyoto, all organized and narrated by a professional English-speaking guide. Let’s explore this historic city together!
Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of the most popular destinations in Kyoto, renowned for its long rows of red torii, Shinto gates that traditionally mark the transition between the mundane and the sacred. Dedicated travelers can pass through over one thousand torii gates if they ascend the mountain all the way to the top, but for most visitors, sightseeing and taking photos toward the beginning is perfectly satisfying.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple is one of the most significant and popular temples in Kyoto, and boasts a wonderful panoramic view of the city.
You’ll also get to experience traditional arts and crafts at either the Kyoto Handicraft Center or the Nishijin Textile Center (location is announced on the tour day, according to availability). Depending on the location, you’ll learn fascinating Japanese handicrafts at the Kyoto Handicraft Center, or discover the depth of Japan’s kimono culture at Nishijin Textile Center.
Kinkakuji is also known as the Temple of the Golden Pavilion due to its striking golden roof. A major symbol of the city, the site dates to the 14th century, and the gorgeous architecture makes for an incredible photograph. Definitely a must-visit landmark in Kyoto!
Arashiyama, meaning “storm mountain”, holds numerous sites of natural beauty, notably the famous bamboo grove with towering walls of mōsō giant timber bamboo. Take a walk and absorb the sights and sounds of this tranquil domain.
